GRO Save to Email

GRO lets visitors save a recipe to their email. You can add its Save to Email form directly to your recipe card with WP Recipe Maker, including the free version. GRO is a separate service from Grow.me.

Install and activate the GRO WordPress plugin, then connect your site to your GRO account using its setup process. See GRO’s installation guide for the account connection and API key steps.

Configure your Save to Email form in GRO, including its design and email subscription settings. Set up a default form, or copy the Form ID of the specific form you want to use. WP Recipe Maker passes the current recipe’s ID to GRO; GRO handles the form display, submissions and subscriptions.

  1. Open WP Recipe Maker > Template Editor and edit your own recipe template. If you’re starting with a built-in template, clone it first.
  2. In Add Blocks, choose GRO Save to Email and select where it should appear.
  3. In Edit Blocks, select the new block. Leave GRO Form ID blank to use GRO’s default Save to Email form, or enter the Form ID copied from GRO.
  4. Save the template and make sure it’s the template used by your recipes.
  5. Open a published recipe page to check the form’s appearance and behavior.

The Template Editor preview is intentionally non-interactive: its fields and buttons are disabled and cannot submit. To see the form’s design there, use a preview recipe belonging to a published, publicly accessible post without password protection. Otherwise, the editor shows a guidance message. The working form renders on published recipe pages.

If the form is missing, check that GRO is installed, active and connected, and that a default Save to Email form is configured or the block has a valid GRO Form ID. If GRO is unavailable, visitors see no form or setup message. The form is also excluded from recipe print views and feeds.

When editing your template’s HTML, use this block shortcode for the default form:

[wprm-gro-save-to-email]

To select a specific GRO form:

[wprm-gro-save-to-email form_id="my-form_1"]

Replace my-form_1 with your actual GRO Form ID. Use this shortcode inside a recipe template so it has the current recipe’s context; you don’t need to enter a recipe ID. See Recipe Shortcodes for more about working with template blocks.
